Arrest Records in Grant County
Grant County Sheriff, Platteville Police, Lancaster Police, Boscobel Police, Fennimore Police, UW-Platteville Police, and state agencies can all create arrest reports. Callers should be ready with a full name and enough event detail to distinguish the right person. The jail can address current custody questions, while a request for releasable booking material goes to the sheriff. WCCA can show a later filed CF, CM, or CT case, but it is not an arrest blotter. A person may have been released, the prosecutor may not yet have filed, or no case may follow at all.

Grant County does not publish booking photos, and no arrestee names or images are republished. Boscobel's form also states that its police department does not provide booking paperwork, mugshots, or booking video and directs requesters to the involved jail.
Grant County Jail Intake and Release
Jail intake creates a custody record separate from the arrest report. Staff establish identity, inventory property, conduct medical and safety screening, and make fingerprint or photo entries when applicable. Classification uses current charges, criminal history, institutional behavior, and sentenced status. Minimum, medium, and maximum categories concern safe jail management, not guilt. An incarcerated person may seek reclassification every 30 days through the kiosk.

Before release, the person must meet monetary conditions, read the conditions and court date, provide current contact details, and sign the bond. Those steps record release from custody, not a disposition of the charges.
Grant County Custody Visits Through CIDNET
Video visits use CIDNET. Remote visits are scheduled, while those without internet may call about the sheriff-lobby guest kiosk.
Public kiosk visits run Wednesday and Saturday from noon to 8:00 p.m., last exactly 15 minutes, and end automatically in the software.
Recent Grant County Bookings
Recent Grant County booking information must be checked by phone because no public daily log exists. First-of-month jail counts in 2026 were 64 in January, 60 in February, 58 in March, 61 in April, and 80 in May. Monthly bookings were 89, 89, 80, and 111 from January through April, totaling 369. These figures are operational snapshots and flows, not a list of people or an annual average population.
The May count included contract inmates, and April materials referenced arrangements involving Scott, Richland, and Green Counties as well as Grant County. That context is another reason not to treat a jail population number as a count of local arrests. The number in custody can include people held through intercounty arrangements, while a person arrested in Grant County may be released before any monthly snapshot.
Completed-sentence releases generally occur from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. at the east-side Inmate Report/Release door. Self-report and warrant arrivals use that entrance and intercom as well. The jail guidance does not promise informal warrant clearance, so call the agency or court before appearing.
Choose the Grant County Arrest Custodian
A city arrest report stays with the city police department. Platteville accepts an online city form and requests by phone or at 165 N. Fourth Street. Lancaster uses its city open-records form and police office at 222 S. Madison Street. Boscobel supplies an official PDF for records held at 202 W. Oak Street. UW-Platteville Police, Fennimore Police, and state agencies keep the incidents their personnel create. Exact direct-records contacts were not verified for every agency, so their official office should confirm the correct channel.
Crash records form a separate branch. The Grant County sheriff links state-reportable crash retrieval to Crashdocs, but that portal is not an arrest or booking database.
Use it only when the sought sheriff record is a qualifying crash report. For a body-camera record, incident narrative, or arrest report, use NextRequest with enough event detail to permit search and redaction.
Grant County's general Chapter 63 schedule lists paper copies at $0.25 per page or side and non-land-record computer printouts at $0.35 per page, plus mailing. Locating labor is $15 per hour only when the locating cost reaches at least $50, and prepayment may be required above $5. A special statutory charge controls when applicable. These rules do not prove one fixed price for every sheriff video, certified item, or crash report.
Arrest Records vs Conviction Records
An arrest record proves that law enforcement documented an arrest or that jail booking occurred. It does not prove guilt. A conviction follows a guilty plea or a finding after trial and appears in the Grant County court record. The initial arrest charge may change before filing, and each filed count can end differently.

The filed complaint, court events, and sentence belong in the Grant County court case lookup. An arrest or dismissal does not automatically erase the agency report or booking record.

Correcting a Grant County Arrest Trail
Begin with the source of the error. A wrong detail in a sheriff report goes to the sheriff. A city report issue goes to that city. A WCCA court entry goes to the Grant County clerk. A missing or wrong Wisconsin CIB disposition uses the Wisconsin DOJ challenge process rather than a request that the jail rewrite the statewide file.
DOJ advises sending the DJ-LE-247 challenge within six months of receiving the questioned result. Include that result and records supporting the correction. A missing disposition should be backed by prosecutor or court material. Mistaken identity or identity theft requires fingerprints. No challenge fee was stated. This process corrects the CIB repository but does not automatically rewrite the Grant County police report or court file.
Wisconsin court expungement and CIB fingerprint removal are also distinct. A dismissal alone does not delete a booking record. CIB fingerprint removal is narrow and requires every offense on an arrest fingerprint card to end in release without charge, nonprosecution, or clearance through court proceedings. Any conviction, even for a lesser offense, defeats removal of that arrest card.
